Tante!!

Molly has blessed the Heimer Hilton Wichita with a labor day weekend visit every year that we have lived here.  The first year we shopped and ate till we dropped and spent evenings downtown listening to live music.  My, how things have changed in 3 years.  I think we're all happy with the changes and her visit this year was just as enjoyable.
We took our usual Saturday excursion to Old Chicago for pizza and opening day of college football.  This year was different in that CU's move to the Pac 12 means the CU/CSU showdown also moved.  We had had so much fun in previous years watching the Rams get crammed but our youngest viewer might also have lost interest before the completion of a whole game.

Smooches!!

Awww!

Hollywoooooood

(Good thing we only had one photog session :))

Saturday night Molly cooked au gratin potatoes per techniques learned in her recent classes at Cook Street in Denver.  They were To! Die! For!  I do consider myself an au gratin potato aficionado and even without cheese these knocked my socks off.  Steak au poivre and green beans (the regulars) rounded out the meal.   The night did not end without our traditional trip to 31 flavors.
As this mama was under the weather all weekend, some of our best laid plans were sent awry but Tante assured me she had fun playing with her Nugget and watching movies.  Over the weekend we watched Limitless with Bradley Cooper, The Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew Mconahottie, and half a season of Entourage.
Molly put her cooking skills to work again Monday morning with fresh crepes filled with fresh berries, nutella, bananas, peanut butter.......we even tried Ben's peach and mango puree in some.  I have craved them every morning since.  She did leave her cookbook (bwah ha ha!!) so we will be sure to copy it before sending it back.
Some quality swing time in the beautiful fall air was the perfect post-breakfast activity.  We also got the fall front porch decor placed as well as mums planted before Tante headed west Monday afternoon.  We all concluded that next year they should move the Mile-High Showdown back to Labor Day and we should all drive from our nearby homes to attend!! (Fingers Crossed!)
