trick or treat

Well, we never made it to the neighborhood fall festival on the day we moved in, so Ben first donned his costume on Halloween.  The first stop was great grandma Lola's assisted living home.  They had snacks and all the residents were out in the main room waiting and ready for anyone stopping by.

After a brief stop there, we headed to trunk-or-treat at Nana and Papa's church.  Ben was way more interested in seeking out other super heros than in getting candy but we made our rounds and hurried home.  Our cul-de-sac does a traditional chili cook-off and fire before different families head off to trick-or-treat.  It was at this gathering that I discovered one of our new((er) than us) neighbors was a girl I went to junior high and high school with.  She has a three year old son and they live at the end of our cul-de-sac.

After lots of playing with kids and a little trick-or-treating, Ben and I called it a night.  Ryan joined the neighbors in a trip to the neighborhood rave, complete with a DJ, the police being called and mortars shot off.  Whatever hopes and dreams we had of "quiet suburban life," were quickly dashed.

I didn't take a phone or camera out all night but Ryan captured this movie at the party.

It was a fabulous night and a great introduction to the neighborhood-even if the El Diablo signature cocktail we took stuck around well into the next day.

  1. Your move was such perfect timing for Halloween mingling. The rave, including video evidence, is still cracking me up! Captain Ben looked adorable and fit right in with all of his super hero buddies.
