Several Saturdays ago, I proposed a "Sew Fun Saturday" for Tante and MeeMee and myself to spend a weekend sewing. The day got off to a slow start and MeeMee did some Ben watching and some sewing saving but no sewing herself. After an early mistake I was stopped in my tracks until I bought more strap webbing, so the "sew fun" day became less fun and dragged on and on. After several weekends though, and lots of help from Ryan, Ben's nap mat is finally finished!!
Ben enjoyed his first breakfast burrito from Santiago's that morning:
He also enjoyed some QT with Anna
I choose this project because we have a couple summer vacations planned where Ben will likely sleep on the floor. I wanted to be sure of the quality of fabric and that Ben wouldn't be sleeping on something laden with flame retardant chemicals. In the end it turned out great and I'm glad Ryan jumped in and helped in the end. In total it cost just under $50 (with lots of coupons and sales). I could have purchased something similar on Etsy for around $90 so financially it was worth it. Knowing that my husband has some killer sewing skills is priceless!!
measure twice, cut once
Tante sewed some beautiful euro pillows for her bed and also hit a few road bumps.
She has a quilting friend we are going to make a date with to brush up on our skills a bit, but for now I plan to have sew much fun not sewing for awhile:).
SOOO fun for Ben:)
