Spring has sprung in colorful Colorado and with temps in the high 60's and 70's all last weekend and this week, we've gotten into a pretty regular routine of heading to the park right after nap. Ryan went with us twice last weekend and I can hardly wait for this weekend when he can go back and see how far Ben has come. Our son is frighteningly fearless but yesterday amazed me at the things he insisted on trying and how quickly he mastered them. He was like a little mountain climber blooming right before my eyes. I can only imagine how proud I would have been if I'd ever scaled the shear face of anything:).
One of the miraculous parts of watching any baby grow and develop is witnessing how much of who we are is innate. So many things Ben does to problem solve in his little world are things no one has ever shown him-they're just in there, and that continues to amaze me.
Until yesterday, he would go to the other side where the mulch is higher. Now he uses those holes for his fingers and nearly skips the first step altogether.
Sunday he needed help just to walk across this bridge and make it all the way up the other side without bear crawling. Yesterday it became a quicker way to the slide. It took a few tries, but he just reached forward and used those holes for help and hoisted himself up and over. And as for the help, "I got this Mom."
Yes, much to my dismay, the only fun way down the slide is head first :).
These very steep steps that we didn't even attempt two days ago, Ben now handles with relative ease. They do require VERY close supervision as a little miss-step means a loooong way down.
I only had my phone camera this day, but Ben, the DSLR and I have a date with this fun mirror:).
Isn't the human mind astounding? :) Wish I could play in the park with you guys.
ReplyDeleteBoys are SO much more physical and fearless than girls. Well, at least my girl ;)
ReplyDeleteYou might just get to experience the fearlessness very soon:).
