Memorial Day

We flew back to Denver from Vegas on Wednesday May 25th, to spend Memorial Day weekend with friends and family.  We stayed with Grandpa Jim and Nana Pat in Littleton.

We spent Thursday visiting our gorgeous new nephew and cousin, Ian David Witherspoon (click for a link to his post) and his parents Dave and Christy in Colorado Springs.
We packed Friday tight from dusk till dawn with activities.  We started at Hurdles Jewelry in Boulder, where I used to work, and then headed downtown to meet Tante Mollusk and her man-friend JPizzle (JP) for lunch.  From there we headed to Cherry Creek to get my Mother's Day gift from Tiffany and Co. sent in for engraving and then met Nana Pat at Costco to shop for Saturday's BBQ.  We took Nana Pat and Grandpa Jim out to Hacienda Colorado for dinner as a thank-you for watching the four-leggeds and finally met Tante Mollusk to see Hangover 2 while Nana and Grandpa babysat.  Did I mention that in all of this to heck and back we also sat in traffic for over two hours.  It was a good reminder that with big-city fun comes big-city traffic.  Whew! what a fun and productive day.

Saturday was BBQ day and 40ish of our friends and family gathered to say Hi! and I hope spend some time reflecting on the "Memorial Day" part of the weekend.  It was so great to see everyone and to see all the kiddos together.  It was a wonderful reminder of the great group of "cousins" Ben will have when we move back to Colorado some day.
Nana Pat and Grandpa Jim happily babysat again late Saturday night so we could go hang with friends Cole and Amy for a couple hours.  Sunday started lazily as we all watched the Indy 500 in our pj's and headed up into the hills to see the amazing progress on friends' Eric and Jana's mountain home.  They have remodeled nearly every surface and the fact that interior design and construction are both Jana's passion and her career was evident in every room.  Beautiful work guys!!  (We can hardly wait to come stay!)

Monday started too early as it always does and we met Tante and MeeMee at Table Mountain Inn for breakfast and one last hug.  Then began the LONG journey home to, as Aunt DeDe would say, Ahhhhhs.
