Breakfst with Santa

Ryan's trip to Switzerland kept him away through Saturday evening so he missed our first neighborhood breakfast with Santa.  As it was my first rodeo, we were the second ones to arrive, not knowing Santa would arrive about 45 minutes later.  As the kind ladies who head up our neighborhood Moms, Pops, and Tots group warned me, it went from quiet fun to total chaos almost instantly.  Our neighborhood clubhouse is big and beautiful, but little can house all that energy and anticipation.  Ben quickly learned to run to the kitchen to sneak chocolate donuts anytime I got stuck with an adult and when I got Santa door duty, he had a field day running and sneaking.  After a little breakfast and a little craft, Santa arrived to hear everyone's wishes.

Ben was about the 5th kid to meet with Santa and the last before he attended to some technical difficulties.  Santa took lots of time with each kiddo.

"Excuse me, Santa.  Can we talk like men?"

Santa is having trouble hearing because Ben is requesting "wassailing and a fireplace."

I'm fairly confident they speak of wassailing in Ben's favorite Mickey Mouse Christmas movie and it's all he wants for Christmas this year, besides a fireplace, which we already have.

*Wassail
verb
gerund or present participle: wassailing
  1. 1.
drink plentiful amounts of alcohol and enjoy oneself with others in a noisy, lively way.
  2. 2.
go from house to house at Christmas singing carols.

    "here we go a-wassailing"

"Wa...what??"

"I didn't know there were candy canes involved! I'm good. Don't worry about my house.
Seeeee you later!"

The morning was quick and fun and the parents group did a flawless job in putting it on.  If you had a crafting kiddo, they would've been in heaven with the different craft stations.  I will treasure the little tree I got Ben to decorate. ;)  After Santa heard his wishes, we hurried home to wait for Ryan's return.
