Easter

Rawwwwrrrrrrr!

Oh you haven't heard of the Easter t-rex?  The Easter Bunny left a dinosaur in Ben's basket which he hid in his fort on top of his new reading-nook pads.  He also left the requested cookies, a new Pete the Cat book and the Zingo sight words game.

I decorated the play-set with eggs Ben and I painted the week before.

Ben slept pretty late this Easter morning which allowed us to get lots set up for the brunch we were hosting at 10:30.  I got up extra early so we'd have plenty of time to enjoy the morning as a family and discover what the bunny had left for Ben.

The big bubble wand was Ben's favorite surprise in his basket.

I kept this year's brunch more casual with buffet-serving and seat-yourself tables.  It allowed more time to make the 4 garlands ;) and was nice that everyone could just eat when they wanted.

The first guests arrived right before 10:30 and we were blessed with an evening visit from out-of-town friends so the fun lasted until nearly 8pm.  We had lots to eat and drink and I planned chips and ham-sandwich accoutrement for people who might want a post-brunch snack or an "afternoon round 2."

The neighbors had a lemonade stand and the boys enjoyed them in the fort.

The Heimer's friend Marty joined the fun.

Baby boy Hartje is due next week!!

I remembered the boys getting warm fast last year and decided to take the Easter finery down a notch.

Ben is just a lower leg away from being taller than his Tante.

Ben slept in but didn't slow down a bit all morning and by 11:30........

...oh he was such a tired monkey. :(

the boys enjoyed their annual egg hunt (Ben DID NOT inherit my competitive gene ;)

who needs to hunt when you can hug?

sister and brother and their boys :)

This Easter was another delightful one filled with the blessings of friends, family and laughter.  The expected rain never came and the more casual time-frame and food serving made for a more enjoyable day for everyone.  I hope hosting this special day at the Heimer Haus is one we can continue and hope the unexpected guests only increase in the years to come.
