Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan
Tonight as we were watching "Brian," aka, the Nightly News, they discussed the death of Pete Seeger. Ben was drawn to the guitar playing and asked about him and what his name was. We discussed it for a while and then I mentioned that Pete died. Ben turned to me and said, "Anna died too mommy. She's all gone, but LUKE IS HERE!" While we still talk about Anna lots, I don't often use the word "died" when we talk about her. I was proud of Ben for making the connection and once-again amazed at some of the things he understands. While I realize he doesn't fully grasp what dying means, I could tell he knew that it was sad that Pete had died just as it was sad that Anna was gone. Every time Ben remembers Anna is bittersweet, but I hope that by talking about it often and with the help of pictures, he'll always have a little memory of our sweet girl.
Well, that put a lump in my throat. Oh, sweet Anna. How insightful for Ben to put it all together. I, too, try to avoid the word "died" - hard to do when we are watching Lion King and Cadyn questions what happened to Mufasa. I just am not prepared for her to know the reality of what that means yet.
